Committed to sustainability: - The only networks of their kind
The equipment dealer from Bodø focuses on container nets made of fishing nets.
- These are the only networks of their kind, says Espen Løkås, sales manager and co-owner of HL Maskinutstyr from Bodø. Løkås has worked in the construction industry for a number of years, and was one of the founders of the company in 2019.
They supply a variety of different machines and equipment to, among others, machinery contractors and the construction sector.
Earlier this year, they chose to invest in sustainable container networks, which Løkås believes is in line with the times.
- It is a consumable item that is used a lot by many different companies that we work with. In that sense, it is a great advantage that the nets, which are replaced relatively often, are reused fishing nets. It is also an industry that everyone in our county has ownership of, and it is a clear example of better use of resources, says Løkås, and adds:
- As long as the nets are of high quality, which these do, it is a great advantage that they are a more sustainable alternative.
CEO of Nofir, Øistein Aleksandersen, believes that contractors like HL Maskinutstyr can have a lot to gain from switching to more sustainable alternatives in the future.
Recycled nets from Nofir have a climate saving of 90% CO2e, measured against nets made from virgin plastic. The emissions are almost exclusively related to the electricity consumption of the machines used in the process of re-sewing and converting fishing nets into, among other things, container nets.
- We are starting to get a good portfolio of satisfied users of our nets. Espen has extensive experience and good contact with the industries we want to focus on with this project, and it is an important stamp of approval for us that they choose us to deliver container nets to them, says Aleksandersen.
